urban trappist brewery

image contains at least 9 hemingway allusions

Biography

My second landmark beer (after North Coast's Old Rasputin) was Bell's Two-Hearted Ale. I ordered it solely for the glorious Hemingway allusion, but enjoyed it for its vibrant taste as well. So, I paid it homage by making this poor knockoff. The sole supremacy of my version is in the wrapping, shoddy as it looks. The watercolor-esque label contains 9 Hemingway allusions. So far, no one has named them all, but I'm not sure anyone has really tried.

Creation

Highly unoriginal. I did use a British malt called Halcyon, hoping to call back those summer days of old when I sipped Two-Hearteds on decks and docks. Everything went as planned, which is a completely different sort of failure from, say, Crucifixion Ale.
